An easy way to become Chinese is request an imperial marriage and then have the princess raise your kid with the heritage focus. You could also have a doctor, bureaucrat, engineer, or commanders raise them with the heritage focus. Be an emperor. Basically collect a bunch of kingdoms or some shit. Be very wealthy, and very prestigious. The new laws allow rulers to shift the focus of the obligations of the realm's vassals, between more taxes or more levies. Thus, they trade off taxes vs levies, rather than taxes and levies vs opinion. Obligation laws now determine the minimum vassal levies, replacing one of the features of crown authority.

Considering that Jade Dragon allows us to adopt "Chinese Imperialism", which switches your government to "Chinese Imperial" if you're of the right culture, I think that a similar government option should be available to Yi Ti (call it "Yi Tish Imperial" or something like that) and possibly Leng as well. IIRC, the two big differences with a feudal system are that you are now able to hold cities without penalties (especially useful as you own counties on the Silk Road) and that vassals do not mind if you are of another religion, and vice versa. Imperial government even comes with its custom localisation for councillors, titles, and characters! Imperial government comes with its own set of laws, so it plays differently than either feudal or republican governments.
